How to sign a retirement card

It’s difficult finding the correct words for a retirement card. That’s why we’re here! To help you find those words and express them in a simple and straightforward way. However, something that can be forgotten is how to sign a retirement card after you’ve decided on your message.

The way in which you choose to sign your card will depend on a few factors – how well you know the person retiring and the message you have written. The standard and basic ways you can go with before signing your name are:

  • Yours sincerely
  • Yours faithfully
  • Kind regards
  • With love
  • Love from
  • All the best

Depending on how well you know the recipient will decide which is the most appropriate. Keep it short though.

If you are close to or know them well then when you sign the card you may want to think about using their name. This allows you to add some personalisation and sincerity. Using the word “love” is good if, again, you feel you know them well enough. You will have to use your own judgement here as to what would be best.

Extra Tips:

  • You will often find that keeping your retirement message or best wishes brief is besy, and as above, keeping the way you sign it short is advised too. Try not to ramble on and say too much, just simple and to the point is perfect.
  • Don’t leave the card anonymous. Make sure you sign your name so the recipient knows who has sent it.
  • If you’re signing a retirement card for a family member or relative then all the same rules apply. You can possibly be slightly more informal but you will still want to avoid anything that might offend them.
